The Project

The Centre has launched a Community Newsletter from July 2020 with the support from the National Lottery. Older people are at highest risk from COVID-19. Staying at home is the best available solution for them. However, loneliness and boredom caused by constantly staying indoors are two significant factors leading to mental health issues in elders. The project aims to engage with the vulnerable members of the community by keeping them motivated and active while at home. This creative newsletter features work contributed by people from the community.

Under the project, the Centre developed and published 6 issues (July- December 2020) with the articles/write-ups contributed by community members. The Centre invites anyone aged over 50, residing within the Dundee and Angus region to contribute to this newsletter. Contributions could be in the form of a short story, personal narrative, recipe ideas, sewing tips, artwork or anything that is fun to read. Contributions from people staying outside Dundee and Angus may also be accepted subject to space availability. The newsletter once published (500 copies), was distributed in care homes, community centres, convenient stores for free in the Dundee and Angus region. A soft copy of the newsletter was published on the Centre's website every month. The Centre invites community members to come forward, contribute and make this project a grand success.

Fully funded project - contributions get published and circulated for free

Submission deadline - 15th of each month
